On October 14, UNESSA organized the Y.civic opening seminar at the Bonnevie Training Center. This project, co-funded by the Europe for Citizens programme of the European Union, brang together 75 persons from 7 differents countries : Belgium, France, Italy, Poland, Germany, Latvia and Romania.

Are you 18 years old and a citizen of the European Union? Get ready to explore Europe! DiscoverEU is proud to be part of the European Year of Rail 2021.
What is DiscoverEU?
DiscoverEU is an initiative of the European Union that gives you the opportunity to discover Europe through learning experiences. Travelling predominantly by rail (there are exceptions to allow those living on islands or in remote areas), you will discover Europe’s stunning landscapes and its variety of cities and towns. You can apply during the two application rounds which take place each year. Successful applicants are awarded with a travel pass.
As an 18-year-old citizen of the European Union, DiscoverEU offers you the opportunity to participate in a travel experience that will enable you to take advantage of the freedom of movement throughout the European Union, explore the diversity of Europe, learn about European cultural heritage and history, and connect with people from all over the continent. Furthermore, DiscoverEU enables you, as a young person, to develop life skills of value to your future, such as independence, confidence, and openness to other cultures.
Exceptionally for this round, those young people, who were eligible under the two rounds in 2020, which were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, can apply too.

When is the next round?
Almost 70 000 young people have been awarded a travel pass since the first application round in June 2018. Another round will take place between Tuesday 12 October 2021 at 12:00 (CEST)andTuesday 26 October 2021 at 12:00 (CEST). An ‘Apply Now’ button will appear on this page on D-Day!
To be eligible, you need to:
Have been born between 1 July 2001 (included) and 31 December 2003 (included);
Have the nationality of one of the Member States of the European Union at the time of the award decision;
Complete the correct ID or passport number on the online application form.
Then you will need to participate in a quiz (unless you apply as a group member).
If you are selected, you can travel for a period of minimum 1 day and up to 30 days between 1 March 2022 and 28 February 2023.

Can I travel with my friends?
Yes you can! It really is up to you. You can go solo or add up to 4 friends in your group provided they meet the eligibility conditions above. They will use your application code to submit their own application. Check out our FAQs B.5 to B.11 to know more.

On October 15, 2021, UNESSA organizes the first thematic seminar of the Y.civic project. It will take place from 09:30 to 15:45 at the Bonnevie Training Centre (affiliate and partner of the project). This project, co-funded by the Europe for Citizens programme of the European Union, will bring together young Europeans (Belgium, France, Italy, Poland and Romania) and allow them to express themselves on the theme of climate and the environment.
On October 14, 2021, UNESSA organizes the Y.civic opening seminar from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Bonnevie Training Center. This project, co-funded by the Europe for Citizens programme of the European Union, will bring together European partners (Belgium, France, Italy, Poland and Romania) and will aim to work on the citizen participation of young people aged 18 to 30.

The Bonnevie Training Center is a Work Training Workshop located in Molenbeek that offers training in car mechanics and building renovation.
In the field of automotive mechanics, the center trains maintenance mechanics. In the field of building, he trains future ceiling lights/fitters in light partitions with specialization in eco-construction and fitters in sanitary and central heating installations.
„Community” is the concept around which our work revolves. We constantly dedicate time and energy to build innovative solutions in the fields of social economy and entrepreneurship and transferring knowledge in the benefit of local communities. The Civitas Foundation for Civil Society is, and will remain, an organisation dedicated to sustainable development programs.
Our organisational structure is represented by to regional offices, located in the North-West and Center development regions of Romania, respectively in the cities of Cluj-Napoca and Odorheiu Secuiesc. Therefore, the projects and initiatives belonging to Civitas are mostly, but not exclusively, implemented in Transylvania. Together with our partners we run a significant number of national and international projects.
Our programs and projects belong to the field of local and regional development, and our four sub-fields Community development and good governance, Social economy and entrepreneurship, Civil society empowerment and Rural economic development.
Barka is an NGO that was created in response to the growing social problems of the transition period.
Barbara and Tomasz Sadowscy, the founders, wanted to create environments, social structures in which “forgotten and undesirable” members of Polish society would have the opportunity to develop personally and socially.
Barka has resulted in the creation of an alternative support system that brings together people belonging to socially neglected groups, allowing them to rebuild their identity, their global education and to find themselves in a new socio-economic reality.
Barka’s leaders and residents are involved in addiction prevention activities aimed at young people in the Pobiedziska village.
In August, we met in 6 villages community centers – we did fermentation experiments, we used alcohol in chemical experiments. But we also talked about the damage that alcohol abuse can do to our bodies and families. We also talked about the fact that addiction is a disease. The problem of alcohol availability, lowering the age of consent to “drinking” and not understanding how ethyl alcohol works on a biological level were part of our meeting. So generally we talked about the problems of young people related to addiction using the knowledge of Barka’s experienced leaders.
The Association “Cuore che vede” is a non-profit organization funded in 2008, and it is located in Palermo. The association aims to promote social, cultural and educational development of people of all ages, through the implementation of targeted activities. It works in the field of adult and young education since the 2008 collaborating with a network of institutions, schools, social services and other associations of Palermo and Italy.
The Association “Cuore che vede” aims to build “the culture of love” by promoting voluntary work to help disadvantaged people. We promote the Bank of time initiatives, especially among young people, for the promotion, respect and full affirmation of social, political and human rights of not guaranteed and/or marginalized people.
MAIN AIMS
Promoting a culture of solidarity and shared responsability in the community;
Promoting social inclusion and equal opportunities for people at risk of social exclusion;
Qualifying the activities of volunteering and social work with the continuous lifelong learning of people;
Collaborating and working closely with the public institutions to take care of social needs.
OUR PARTICIPATION IN THE Y.CIVIC PROJECT
In our daily work we try to promote active citizenship and the legality of young people at risk of social exclusion and marginalization. Our youth center is located in Brancaccio, an area that unfortunatelly is full of NEETs young peeple, so we think that this project can impact positively on them both in terms of improvement of competences and opportunities.
Afev is a national association recognized of general interest since 1991. It mobilizes thousands of students every year to support young people with academic difficulties and create links within working-class neighborhoods. By fighting against educational and social inequalities, they act for a more just and supportive society through 3 programs: student mentoring, volunteering in Civic Service dedicated to educational actions and colocations to solidarity projects (KAPS). Present in 350 neighborhoods, organizing more than one million hours of solidarity commitment per year, Afev has become the first network of student intervention in working-class neighborhoods.
At the same time, the solidarity engagement platforms, located in partner universities, promote the solidarity commitment of students and the link between university, students and territory.
